Do You Suffer From Digestive Problems? Well-Known Gastroenterologist Advises on How to Get Rid of Bloating or Abdominal Pain

13. December 2021 – Lifestyle
Poor digestion troubles many Slovaks, but often they are to blame for the unpleasant feeling after eating. The gastroenterologist points out that it is not only diseases of the digestive tract that are to blame; unhealthy eating habits, excessive food intake, a poor combination of individual parts of the diet, sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and stress are also problematic. Many of us have certainly experienced the inconvenience of overeating. For these minor digestive problems, we can also help ourselves preventively by drinking natural mineral water. In addition, MUDr. Miloš Bubán gave us tips on foods that support healthy digestion

Even Grandmothers Knew About It

The gastroenterologist points out that many patients come to him with functional digestive disorders, which account for up to 30-40% of cases in the outpatient clinic. However, many patients also suffer from diseases of the esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas or intestines. “Every part of the digestive tract is important, it should not only be valued but also cared for. Good digestion is essential for the healthy functioning of our bodies. Not only the stomach, but also a healthy intestine is the main weapon against all dangerous baits to weaken our body. We know that good immunity resides in them,” explains MUDr. Bubán.

Healthy digestion is also aided by selected foods that you should definitely include in your diet. In case of minor digestive problems, we can help ourselves preventively by drinking natural mineral water in addition to adjusting our diet. “We are in Slovakia, so let’s definitely support bryndza, but let’s not forget fennel either. Also flaxseeds, fermented vegetables, salads of leafy greens. This is the tried and tested advice of our grandmothers and they were never wrong. We doctors also agree with them,” acknowledges MUDr. Bubán. The drinking of Budiš mineral water when eating food also brings relief,” adds the gastroentrologist.

Your Stomach Won’t Thank You After These Foods

There are also many threats lurking in the kitchen. “Some foods are best avoided on an empty stomach. They often leave one feeling heavy and not at ease. These are, for example, fruit juices with a high sugar content, fruit juices full of refined sugar, also tomatoes, especially if you suffer from reflux,” warns the doctor. The monster, according to him, is also coffee and tea, citrus fruits or yeasted and puff pastry. Nausea manifests itself in very different ways.
According to Dr. Bubán, an ailing digestion can translate into uncomfortable pain, bloating, belching and a feeling of heaviness. He also adds that children who follow their parents’ bad examples can also experience hardship.

The Importance of Drinking and Minerals for Better Digestion

Drinking should not be forgotten when eating. The gastroenterologist warns of digestive problems when overeating and reminds patients of the effects of natural mineral water. It will not only quench your thirst, but thanks to its rich mineral content, it will also support the proper functioning of the body. “It turns out that we can also help ourselves by drinking natural mineral waters more often. For example, thanks to its content of bicarbonates and sulphates, Budiš mineral water contains, among other health benefits, a beneficial effect on the digestive system. The sulphate content improves bowel motility and therefore prevents constipation, which is a common digestive disorder,” explains the doctor. The positive effect of Budiš mineral water on digestion is also confirmed by experts in a balneological assessment. The popular water contains bicarbonates, which bind free acids in the stomach. Sulphates also alleviate irritable bowel syndromes. Calcium sulphate waters not only have an anti-inflammatory effect in the digestive tract, but also in urinary tract infections. Thus, experts agree that drinking small amounts of bicarbonate water more frequently helps to continuously buffer stomach acidity. Drinking carbonated water engorges the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, stimulates the production of gastric juice and accelerates the absorption of nutrients from food. “I have also verified with my patients that Budiš mineral water offers a calming effect, which they seek when eating food,” adds MUDr. Miloš Bubán.

The Dream Figure and a Healthy Stomach

Nor are popular detoxes the best alternative. Dr. Bubán does not recommend excessive and drastic diets: “You should prefer moderation and maybe treat yourself to a ‘cleansing’ day once a week. Lots of fluid, fruits and vegetables. However, in no case do not senselessly copy (unphysiological for the body) procedures that are harmful to the body.” Even on the way to your dream figure, you should not forget about the healthy functioning of your stomach. In fact, when you cut out certain calorie-dense foods, you can help your fitness goals as well as your digestion. “Focus on cutting out fatty and very sugary foods, and make sure you prepare them properly, too. Avoid fried, smoked or canned foods. The best food is always freshly prepared and eaten fresh and not postponed for other days. It is also necessary to pay attention to the correct utensils in which the food is prepared,” advises MUDr. Bubán.
